Selecting the right process heater

Heat is a vital component within businesses and processes. Heating requirements can be simple to solve, but also highly complex.

High pressures, large temperature variations, and aggressive media place enormous demands on equipment. Various heating devices, such as immersion heaters, air heaters, process heaters, heating elements, and flow heaters, are equipped with thermostats and overheat protection to ensure the current temperature range is not exceeded.

When selecting a heater, several parameters must be taken into account to ensure compatibility with the rest of the process.

  • Media. What is to be heated?
  • Volume. When heating a tank, what volume needs to be heated?
  • Flow
  • Ambient temperature
  • Inlet media temperature
  • Desired outlet media temperature
  • Pressure
  • Material
  • Flange dimension/thread
  • Horizontal or vertical mounting
  • Voltage/frequency: particularly important when exporting equipment
  • ATEX/IECEx certified heaters or industrial design
