Eksplosjonsbeskyttelse av typen \u00abovertrykksventilering\u00bb bygger p\u00e5 prinsippet om \u00e5 opprettholde et konstant overtrykk med luft eller inert gass for \u00e5 forhindre at en eksplosiv luft-\/gassblanding dannes n\u00e6r apparater inni den trykksatte kapslingen. <br\/><br\/>Kapslingen har et lite, men konstant overtrykk av luft eller inert gass og forhindrer infiltrasjon av brennbare gasser eller st\u00f8v. I sone 1\/2 m\u00e5 kapslingen med overtrykk v\u00e6re spylt med luft eller inert gass for \u00e5 fjerne alle eksplosive stoffer som kan finnes inni kapslingen f\u00f8r det beskyttede utstyret spenningssettes. Denne fremgangsm\u00e5ten kalles spyleprosess. Etter spyling stenges den helt. En bypass-dyse kompenserer for lekkasje i kapslingen. Denne dysen er integrert i ventilen og er mekanisk justerbar (diameter 0,3 &#8230; 1 mm).   <br\/><br\/>Den digitale magnetventilteknikken har en betydelig ulempe: under renseprosessen og normal drift kreves en konstant lufthastighet. Av sikkerhetsmessige \u00e5rsaker m\u00e5 hastigheten v\u00e6re st\u00f8rre enn lekkasjehastigheten fra kapslingen.
