Our History
Malux was founded in 1961 in Örnsköldsvik under the name El-Centralen by Helmut Schulze. With roots in electrical installations and strong contacts in Europe, the company grew rapidly through agencies in explosion protection, pneumatic tube systems, underwater lighting, and measurement technology. During the 1970s and 80s, operations expanded internationally with establishments in Finland and Norway, and the product range was broadened through acquisitions in telecommunications and data communication.
During the 1990s and early 2000s, Malux strengthened its position as a supplier of technical solutions in electricity, telecom, and data. Significant collaborations with players such as ABB and Allgon, as well as the merger into Malux Sweden AB in 2006, contributed to a more focused and efficient offering. Over the years, the company has also grown through strategic acquisitions, including in emergency lighting and marine technology.
2011 marked a restructuring with a clear focus on core businesses: Industry/Ex, Lighting, and Communication. Under the leadership of Jörgen Schulze, Malux developed into a Nordic group with operations in Sweden, Finland, Norway, and the Baltics. In 2022, ownership transferred to Tången Industrikapital AB, which, with a long-term perspective, continues to drive Malux into the future.
Most recently, the acquisitions of Aubox Oy and Transmark Subsea have strengthened Malux’s expertise and offering in technology-intensive areas such as Ex-environments and underwater solutions. Today, Malux is a strong Nordic partner for safe and reliable technology solutions – with an eye to the future.
