Design Examples for Underwater Lighting
Underwater lighting enhances the surroundings in more ways than just below the surface. It not only ensures safety by effectively illuminating the swimming pool but also, with the correct lighting and color scheme, increases the comfort and experience for visitors.
Exercise and Competition Pools

With Deep Section
Where through-mount installation is possible, our luminaire, series 4.2000 with 170W LED, is advantageously used.

Without Deep Section
4.2000 and 4.1900 have a 60° asymmetric light distribution to illuminate the bottom of the pool as efficiently as possible.
Rehabilitation Pools
With Culvert
Where through-mount installation is possible, our series 4.1900 with 62W LED is advantageously used. If the pool has a height-adjustable bottom, luminaires with a flush front ring are available that align flush with the tiles.

Without Culvert
If there is no culvert, our luminaire series 4.0292 LED is used, either with white diodes or RGB.
Examples of luminaire series are:
4.1900
4.0292 LED
4.0291.75 LED (for flush mounting)

If luminaires are mounted on both sides, a more evenly illuminated pool is achieved.
NOTE! The calculations for exercise, competition, and rehabilitation pools are based on a pool environment with light tile cladding. When choosing stainless steel liner cladding, the light intensity is reduced by approximately 30-40%.
Adventure Pools, Adventure Sections

A: If possible, luminaires should preferably be placed on the inner wall, as
people in the current circle tend to stay along the outer wall.
- B: If it is not possible to place them in the inner circle, the luminaires can be mounted in the outer circle.
- Preferably, luminaires with flush mounting, or with the thinnest possible front ring, should be used. For example, 4.0291.75 or 4.0199 LED/RGB or white diodes.
- Mounting height approximately 60 cm center-to-center below the water surface.
Examples of luminaire series are:
4.0199

For sections of adventure pools intended for “free” swimming, the placement of luminaires varies greatly depending on the pool’s design.
- It is important to try to place luminaires to achieve as even an illumination as possible, considering beam angles and reflections. The luminaires do not necessarily need to be evenly spaced; light distribution is more important to consider.
- Suitable luminaire choices are the 4.0292 series for longer distances (up to 12 m) and 4.0199 for shorter distances (3-8 m).
- You can either choose white diodes for functional/practical lighting, or RGB to enhance the experience for your customers and create an attraction with the underwater lighting.
- Examples of luminaire series are:
- 4.0292
- 4.0199

- In hot tubs, it is important to create attractive lighting both when people are in the pool and to make the pool itself appealing. Therefore, bottom mounting should be combined with backrest mounting.
- Luminaires with flush mounting or the thinnest possible front ring should be used.
- It is advisable to use only LED RGB luminaires where A and B luminaires are divided into different groups. This is to achieve an attractive combination where the luminaires in the backrest change similarly, while the bottom-mounted luminaire B shifts to a different color.
Suggested luminaire series:
A 4.0102
B 4.0052
