The Sun Staircase at Sergel Pavilion

A previous extension built at the corner of Sveavägen and Hamngatan during the 1990s has been completely demolished. This was done to make way for Sergel Pavilion and a wide staircase, called the Sun Staircase, which connects Sveavägen and Malmskillnadsgatan.

This has recreated the possibility of moving between the three street levels that the building borders and created entirely new pedestrian flows in the block.

Evenly distributed light in the staircase

Malux has supplied lighting for the staircase in the form of integrated LED lighting in the handrails. This particular luminaire is designed to illuminate staircases, shopping centers, tunnels, bridges, transportation hubs, or other public environments.

The installation of the luminaire in the handrail does not affect the strength and stability of the handrail. This is important in public environments with high stress. Our solution provides a very evenly distributed light distribution in the staircase, creating increased comfort and safety.
