Our in-ground power units are developed for precisely this type of environment: robust enough to handle heavy traffic, salt, snow, and ice—yet discreet enough to blend into their surroundings.
When large vessels berth, safe and accessible power supply is required. At the same time, installations must not disrupt traffic flow or the working environment. Our in-ground power units are installed at ground level and are built to withstand vehicles, snowploughs, and machinery—up to load class D400 (40 tonnes).
The covers can also be kept locked even during operation, providing a high level of safety and protection against external impact.
The units are flexible and can be customised with the right number of outlets, fuses, residual current devices, and functions such as cover heating—everything required to operate year-round in a demanding climate. Thanks to the design, they can be used with the cover closed, which reduces the risk of damage and simplifies everyday use.
Real-world example – Farehamnen in Varberg
When Farehamnen in Varberg was to improve the power connection for large vessels calling at the quay, a solution was requested that was safe, durable, and aesthetically integrated. In collaboration with GIFAS-ELECTRIC, Bravida, Aarsleff Ground Engineering AB, and Sweco, we delivered nine in-ground power units of the PIAZZA 700 model.
The units are built in heavy-duty stainless steel, with covers that withstand heavy traffic and extreme weather conditions. They are equipped with multiple power outlets and the option of cover heating to keep them free from snow and ice. The result was a durable, safe, and discreet installation that is now an integral part of Farehamnen’s infrastructure.
